New York State unemployment up in August with Orleans County the highest at 7%


The Daily News reported on Friday, September 19th, 2008 that the State Jobless rate is up in New York State in August, 2008 with Orleans County having the highest rate in the State at 7% with both Genesee and Wyoming Counties being at 4.9%.

It is important to be aware of unemployment rates because they are correlated with other social problems such as alcohol and substance abuse, domestic violence, and delinquency and crime.
